What's in a name

It is perhaps one of the more surprising aspects of the development of SOA in user consciousness that some smart company had not already snaffled those three letters and put them in a company name. There are even those that might argue it as being a rather short-sighted attempt to garner more glory by association with the generic terminology. Be that as it may a US company, Digital Evolution, has seen the opportunity and seized it. The company, which operates in the SOA and Web services management, security and governance space, has changed its name to SOA Software.

The company states that the change was made to better reflect the company's mission and ability to provide products and services to help enterprises deploy, manage and secure SOAs. Its SOA fabric solution includes a Service Manager, plus Registry and XML VPN products. By enabling companies to manage and secure Web services and mitigate security policy enforcement challenges, SOA Software delivers a SOA Governance solution. www.soa.com
