Sonic
grows ESB line
Sonic Software
has extended its Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)-based SOA infrastructure
line with two new products: the Sonic Collaboration Server for managing
partner interactions; and the Sonic Database Service, which simplifies
access and re-use of relational data sources.
In addition,
a new deployment tool simplifies the SOA lifecycle, making it easier to
upgrade services and processes and enhancements to Sonic ESB and the Sonic
Workbench increase SOA development productivity with a new uniform service
invocation model that allows services of any type, from Web services to
databases, to be incorporated into the ESB. Together, these help make
up the new version 6.1 of Sonic's ESB.
According
to Gordon Van Huizen, CTO of Sonic Software, the company claims to be
the first to address what he calls the dirty little secret of SOA products
on the market today - that there is no common way of working with various
services. Everything from Web services to relational databases frequently
require additional coding and significantly diminish SOA flexibility.
The Collaboration
Server is a B2B server which integrates external business partners using
B2B protocols and Web services standards. It allows an administrator to
manage the partner interactions, including using partner-specific protocols
and security checks, and dynamically manages partner profiles, making
it easy to respond to new partner requirements without disruption of running
operations.
The Workbench
and ESB provide a uniform model for natively invoking services of various
types, such as Web services, databases or intermediary services, allowing
all types of services to participate in the enterprise SOA. It also makes
it easier to incorporate all types of services into an SOA without sacrificing
security or flexibility.
A new deployment
tool simplifies the staged transition from development to testing to deployment,
and accelerates deployment and upgrade of large-scale SOAs. The tool allows
architects to establish a single, logical deployment archive for multiple
physical topologies.
Sonic has
also introduced the Sonic SOA Suite, a bundled product that delivers deployment
flexibility and simplicity for organisations pursuing SOA projects. The
suite includes Sonic ESB, Sonic Orchestration Server, Sonic XML Server
and the new Sonic Database Service.
