Cape Clear and Neon

Alliances between vendors with technologies that make a good complement to each in the development of service-based environments are the order of the day, which under the circumstances of what SOA stands for, makes a certain sense. One such is the move by Cape Clear Software and NEON Systems to work together to simplify the integration of mainframe applications and data using Web Services and SOA.

The agreement covers the integration of Cape Clear's Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and NEON Systems' Shadow z/Services product, which allows organizations to link in their mainframe applications as services to the rest of the network. The ESB provides standards-based integration that aims to reduce the time and cost of integrating diverse applications and information. The companies plan to begin working with customers immediately.

The objective is straight forward, in that in the real world, mainframes continue to be a primary part in enterprise computing, and enterprise integration projects therefore need to ensure that mainframe resources can continue to participate as a first-class citizen in the enterprise. The combination of Cape Clear and NEON Systems maximizes the benefits of any existing mainframe applications inside the enterprise and out across the Internet.

Over 200 companies are already using Cape Clear to solve such integration problems as integrating existing application and data assets, building services from the existing IT infrastructure and creating intelligent integrations with routing and business rules. NEON claims to be the only company to deliver a unified mainframe integration platform to support the entire range of requirements for modern SOAs and emerging Event-Driven Architectures (EDA).
